One design, which can be seen to the right, had too much going on with the logo. This design could not be simplified to where someone could just look at the silhouette of the logo and figure out what the place they’re walking into or seeing advertisements for. In this design, there were also too many assets and illustrations that went along with it. Some illustrations were kept for the brand but went through a few redesigns. The logo was then simplified to have a nice sans serif font, that being Oswald with Roboto Condensed, with an illustration of a bird that is in reference to a piece Charley created in which had a red cardinal in it. This project was fun as it was primarily a layout project more than anything else. Below, is one of my favorite spreads from the project as it was fun to play with making rules as well as experiment with the hierarchy of the text with imagery. For this project, it was best to choose colors and fonts that went well with the brand and the key factor with this spread was to make sure that the descriptions of the spread were readable by adding hierarchy. None of these ads were actually used on Instagram for legal reasons. The main goal of this piece was to design 4 images that would be put on Instagram as one post. This design needed to be a poster and illustration in order to advertise the holiday. With the design of this piece, it would look good to give off a mirrored vibe with its illustration.
